Kansas House District 88
Jim Ward represents the 88th Kansas House District, which includes southeast Wichita. He was first elected to the Kansas House of Representatives in 2002 and was selected by his colleagues to serve as the Assistant Minority Leader in 2005. In his leadership role at the Capitol, Jim serves on the Committees on Judiciary, Health & Human Services, Legislative Budget and Interstate Cooperation.
Jim had previously served on the Wichita City Council, Board of Education 259 and the Kansas State Senate. Jim has established himself as a successful attorney in Sedgwick County, both in the public and private sector. After working as an Assistant District Attorney for the 18th Judicial District, Jim opened his own practice in 1990, where he emphasizes family law, child support, child custody, real estate matters and personal injury matters.
As an active member of the community, Jim has served a number of boards and organizations in an effort to advance causes such as literacy, citizenship and truancy prevention.
Jim resides in Wichita with his wife, Karen, and his two children, Zachary and Emily. He enjoys reading, music and baseball.
